Columbia, SC, photographer Jeff Blake was a photojournalist at The State newspaper in Columbia, SC for four years and a professional newspaper photojournalist for eleven years. Recently, he was elected the President of the South Carolina News Photographer Association. Blake graduated from the University of Georgia in 1998 with a major in newspaper journalism and an emphasis in photojournalism. He followed an internship at the Macon Telegraph by working for seven years as a staff photojournalist at The Athens (Ga.) Banner-Herald.
Blake has photographed Super Bowls, the last four U.S. presidents, The Final Four, numerous bowl games, major league baseball, and countless major and minor news events.  In addition to his newspaper staff positions, his photos have appeared in Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, USA Today, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and many other nationally recognized publications.
 
Over the past six years, he has won awards for First Place Sports Photo of the Year five times; Second Place Sports Photo of the Year twice; First Place Photo Illustration of the Year three times; a First Place and Third Place Sports Feature Photo of the Year; a First Place Feature Photo of the Year; and a Second Place and two Third Place Spot News Photos of the Year, in the year-end contests held by the Southern News Press Association, the Georgia Press Association, the South Carolina News Photographer Association, and the South Carolina Press Association and the Associated Press.
 
Blake is an active member in the National Press Photographer Association, the South Carolina Press Association and Sports Shooter. He also was a photojournalism instructor for three years at the annual Georgia Journalism Academy, a high school journalism summer camp held at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. He was a featured speaker at the 2006 Southern Short Course in News Photography and the 2006 Georgia Press Association photo workshop.
